Aggressive dogs – or are they?
Your dogs reactive behaviour isn’t their personality and isn’t who they are. Behaviour is a reflection of how your dog feels in that moment, it is a response to a situation or a thing.
Reacting to a change in the environment is completely normal for all living beings. However, when there is an overreaction from your dog is when they need help. They are struggling with their emotions and how to communicate them in a way where they can get their need met.
Owning an ‘aggressive’ dog’
Maybe you’ve started dreading the dog walks, and perhaps you’ve even stopped having guests over to the house as it’s just too stressful.
I understand and I’ve been there in the past myself too, along with many others. You’re not alone!!
But it doesn’t have to end here, behaviour is incredibly workable and both ends of the lead can learn new ways.
Supporting your dog gets results
The reason this page is filled with smiling happy dog faces is because I know you have this happy and relaxed dog. When your dog feels safe and they aren’t concerned about anything, this is the face you see!
And this is probably the face you want everyone else to be able to see from your dog too! You want your dog to feel happy, calm, and safe.
I’m here to help bridge the gap in communication, let’s get started in building that happy, smiley dog in social situations together!

Case study
“Spending money on getting the right support is worth your dog’s weight in gold!”
Leah in the past has been very protective of certain people and can react to dogs she doesn’t know. So of course we looked for help before we got a puppy.
Our local dog boarder recommended Ellie and we signed up. We used Ellie’s support for both the new Working Cocker Spaniel puppy, Loki, and Leah.
Let’s start with Loki. We booked in for the puppy package and we were so glad we did.
The session before Loki arrived was key – managing our expectations and breed specific ‘do’s and don’ts’. The follow-up sessions in the first weeks were helpful in building not only our confidence but Loki’s too. We really wanted Loki to be well-socialised as Leah clearly hadn’t been. Getting the basics right, from the start, was so important.
Leah, as you can imagine, was not too keen on a puppy arriving bang in the middle of her retirement years! Leah is part German Shepherd, part Staffy… so she likes to herd things and keep them still! As a puppy, Loki didn’t understand the rules!
Regularly getting a proper telling-off. So we booked in again with Ellie. We learnt how to manage the two dogs, giving them space, and not projecting our emotions/stress onto them.
Slowly but surely they learnt to tolerate each other and we were able to take them on walks together. Loki is now 9 months old and the two dogs live together well. We have been on holiday with them and they both had a blast. They can sleep on the same sofa too!
We have recommended Ellie to 5 friends locally when they announced they were getting a puppy.
All 5 have said they are glad they signed up as the breed-specific advice is really important. Spending money on getting the right support is worth your dog’s weight in gold!
